Nyamakop is a Johannesburg, South Africa, based game studio that creates original independent PC and console games for a global audience. Our games are African-inspired and made by a diverse and inclusive team based primarily in South Africa, but also across Africa.

Founded in 2016, we’ve been labelled “one of the most promising studios in African game development” by Polygon. Our debut title, Semblance, was launched in 2018 and become the first African developed IP to launch on any Nintendo console ever and is currently ranked in the top 100 best PC games of 2018 according to Metacritic.

Building on our success with Semblance, Nyamakop has grown to 30 people working on our next project, making us one of Sub-Saharan Africa’s largest independent game developers.
